UPDATED 30 July 2009; my previous add-on stopped working at version 3.5.1; this new one works up until version 4.0:

OK, I modified one of my favorite extensions to work with FireFox 3

It is called Make IMG Tag… The original plugin is here:

(which was a mod on yet another extension )

Well, I use it daily… And I just upgraded to FireFox3 and it doesn’t work there… so, I patched the extension to work with FireFox 3 and I will make it available to you here

To install this extension “right click,save as” to your desktop, then drag the XPI file into any FireFox window.

Hi
I finally succeeded by “posting new picture” and stripping the [img] tags as you suggested.
This is to get around the size limitations imposed by stumbleupon.
Yes, it’s probably a change in their site.
The extension is still useful to me, thanks.

Perhaps it was a change in how Stumbleupon allows you to make posts?

All that the extension does is take the image URL, copy the image URL and wrap it with IMG tags [IMG]image URL here[/IMG]

And that is the same thing that it does now.

On StumbleUpon have you tried the post new “Picture” link instead of “Blog”. On the post new “Picture” feature you just need the URL without the image tags.

If you are trying to post an image inline in a blog post on StumbleUpon, it appears that you have to use actual HTML…

for example:

< (DONT USE THE PARENTHESIS HERE)img src="http://www.ccdwell.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/1.jpg" alt="" />

instead of:

[img]http://www.ccdwell.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/1.jpg[/img]

I am not sure if this is a change on how StumbleUpon handles posts, as I have never used this feature of StumbleUpon. But the functionality of the extension hasn’t changed at all.

I will spend some more time looking into the changelogs for StumbleUpon to see if they changed something recently.

Hi,
I use the extension on my stumbleupon pages ( see above website address )but the latest imgtag3 update doesn’t do what the last one did. Your previous one worked up until the 3.5 firefox.
Steps 1 Go to page http://www.ccdwell.com/?p=3013
Step 2 Right click menu > Make Img Tag
Step 3 Paste into review page of my stumbleupon blog
Step 4 refresh page> all that appears is the code text as follows
[img]http://www.ccdwell.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/1.jpg[/img]
The same with other websites.
I know this isn’t your job or anything but it’s great you’re doing it.

Hi Phil; thanks for the comment. …Are you saying that something is not working properly now? I am not quite sure what you were saying. I know that my old update stopped working on FF 3.5; but I made another update to it and the new extension is at the very top of this post.

If it is misbehaving, can you please provide me with the steps required to duplicate the problem and I will look into it.

Hi, thanks for this adaptation work on the extension, the previous version worked up until the change to Firefox 3.5 but this one doesn’t.
On Stumbleupon it just pastes the link with the IMG tags.
