Since I received this guitar last week I haven’t been able to put it down. This is my fourth Gibson. I own a 1994 Les Paul Custom, a 2010 Les Paul Special, and a 2011 SG Special 60′s Tribute.
As far as being the least expensive USA made Gibson that you can get the build quality is still on par with all of the others. The one single coil pickup is very versatile and somewhat aggressive.
The slab top body has sustain for days and is almost as loud as an acoustic when it is unplugged. Whether you’re looking for your first Gibson, or you just want to add a little variety to what you’ve already got; this is a solid purchase. The neck is a 50′s profile, but a little thin for a 50′s – it’s NOT a baseball bat; but it also is not the slim 60′s taper that some Gibsons offer. It is a nice compromise between the two and is incredibly comfortable to play. Another nice touch was that there was a gig bag included, which was not mentioned or expected.
If you’re on the edge about this one, take the jump – I’m sure that you’ll find that it is well worth it
