Starting Weight – 360lbs
Current Weight – 353lbs
Lost to date – 7lbs

OK, here we are one week into it. First of all I’d like to thank everybody for the overwhelmingly positive response. Last week Ryan suggested that I try using a site called weighttracker.info and I have. That site is GREAT.

However, it does upset me a little bit to see that it exists, because this site is about 65% of what I have been trying to build… makes me wonder wheter I should continue thinking about and/or working on my project.

Anyway, weighttracker.info has been very useful, and I can see how it will be a really nice tool to track my progress.

SEVEN pounds… I lost SEVEN pounds this week. Amazing. All in all I’m very happy with the results, but I’m also still feeling out my routine.

Last week I really didn’t change my eating habits at all, and I’ve also been disappointed with the amount of time that I’ve been spending in the gym. But, I have been going to the gym, and that single fact was my goal for last week.

This past week was just about getting the momentum going, getting used to going to the gym and so forth, and in that regard I have been successful. Out of the last 7 days, I have been to the gym 6 of them. Its amazing how much weight I’ve lost by just getting out of my house for a week.

This week I hope to put together some type of an eating plan and a more structured workout schedule.

I’m shooting for at least a half hour of cardio everyday, and then some light strength training 2-3 days per week.

I have to say that I definetly feel better, but I am also feeling WAY more aggressive than I have been. It must just be the fact that I have been sedentary for so long that all of my hormones and chemicals are out of whack right now.

That or someone is slipping me steroids….

Like I’ve been saying to anyone I run into… If you happen to be close by and you feel like going to the gym with me, give me a call – I have unlimited guest privelages – it wont cost you a thing, and Im going to try to be there daily anyway.

Just don’t call me if you want to go at 5 in the morning or anything stupid like that. It’s not that I don’t want to get up that early (well, that IS part of it) its the fact that I have no desire to run into the people who have the “holier than thou” and “better than you” attitude, soley because they go to the gym early.

On the going back to school thing that I mentioned last week… It seems like I need to apply to a school and get accepted before I can get any financial aide. I have decided that I want to get my B.S. in Comupter Science + Engineering. In order to achieve that goal, I intend to apply to UCONN School of Engineering and also at Three Rivers. I am not sure if I need to apply to both, I still need to be able to work full time and Im not sure how all of that works… do I just apply to Three Rivers and take some Generals, hoping that most of my credits will transfer… or do I go to UCONN and get a new job, one whose schedule is flexible enough for me to be able to go to daytime classes?

Either way, application to Three Rivers is $20.00 and to UCONN is $70.00. I’ve got $15.00 right now…. anyone have any suggestions for me here?

Well, thanks alot Ryan… I keep seeing your updates and I figured it was time to take a more structured approach to this thing.
So, heres the deal:

I quit smoking this year – I haven’t had a cigarette since December 31. Then, I bought a scale, you know the “fancy” kind that tells you your body fat percentage and everything. Oh, and I had bought one of those Nike+iPod things for my Nano to be able to track my “running” (more appropriatley described as walking, or ambling – perhaps “trundling”*)

So, I’ve proven to myself that I am capable of spending money on health related things. However, I have not followed through on anything. Ive got a treadmill, exercise bike, nordic track and “Gazelle” at my house – they do not and will not get used.

Sunday I purchased a deluxe “Planet Fitness” gym membership and decided that now is the time. I tried to go yesterday at about 5:30pm – this was my first trip ever to a gym – the place was mobbed, I froze and had a panic attack. End result, I ran out to the car and cried for 15 minutes. Oh well. So I did what I had to do and returned to the gym at 9:15 to give it another shot – I did it!! I was scared, but I did it. After I actually got going on the treadmill I looked around and realized that the gym isn’t as frightening as I had made it out to be in my mind.

Lets state some facts and goals now. I guess I don’t really have anything to hide from you guys, all of my frineds KNOW that I’m fat – so here are the numbers:

current weight (this morning)
360lbs.

Body fat Percentage (BMI as figured by my scale)
59.4%

GOAL:
I intend over the next 18 months to lose 140lbs of fat.

Now that breaks down to a little less than 8lbs per month, which is a little less than 2lbs per week. I do not see ANY reason why I cannot do this, and I believe that I have set for myself a realistic goal, in a realistic timeframe.

I DONT think that it will be a constant, consistent loss however. I assume that the first 3 months will be RAPID weight loss (~5lbs or more per week) and then it will probably level out.

Anyway, as a measure of accountability, expect weekly updates on each monday morning from me. Also, I have made the decision to DEFINETLY return to school, but more on that later when i get the logistics worked out.

Wish me luck, and if anyone ever wants to go with me – i BELIEVE i get 1 free guest every time I go. Im new at this, so if anyone has any cardio tips or anything like that, let me know.
